No Impact Week! April 16th -April 22nd

Throughout the first three weeks, you have taken significant steps to help fight diminishing natural resources, water scarcity and climate change. Now is time for the most important, and exciting week of the challenge: NO IMPACT WEEK!

The pledge was designed to focus on one issue at a time because it makes it easier to get started, but now its time to kick it up a notch! Each and every day the planet is facing all of these issues, so its important for us to do our part to fight these issues everyday!

So, during this fourth and final week of the pledge, your goal is to take all of the actions that you committed yourself to over the past three weeks and incorporate every single one into your habits this week! This will allow you to live with as little impact as possible for one whole week.

Before you know it, you'll be having so much fun with these actions, that they will become second-nature and you can carry forward with these wonderful eco-friendly behaviors into the rest of your lives!

Also, we're offering a few Bonus Actions to spice up your week - take a look!

Bonus Actions

1) I will take political action and contact one of my elected representatives in regards to an environmental issue.

  • Personal action is only one aspect of sustainability. Another is political action! Your elected officials are there to represent YOUR interests and YOUR needs. It's important you make your voice heard and let them know that you care about sustainability. Reach out to them this week about an issue you are passionate about and let them know your concerns.

2) I will help paint UMD Green on Earth Day, 4/22, by wearing every green item of clothing I have!

  • Earth Day is the new St. Patty's Day, haven't you heard?!

3) I will spend time outside in nature this week!

  • Famous environmental author, Edward Abbey, once said “It is not enough to fight for the land; it is

even more important to enjoy it!” You heard the man - get outside!

4) I will attend the Earth Day Festival on Tuesday 4/22.

  • You've worked hard the past month - come to the Earth Day Festival to enjoy food, drink, friends, music, activites, and an overall rockin' night!
