Every year the Student Government Association plans the annual UMD Earth Day Festival, and this year we are going to make it BIGGER and BETTER than ever!

First of all, if you forgot why we celebrate Earth Day, here are a few quick reminders:

WHAT will this event be like?

This years festival will not only be a celebration for Earth Day, but it will also be a celebration for YOU, and every other person who took the pledge! We want to thank everyone for their amazing commitment to sustainability throughout the month long pledge by giving them an unforgettable night!

There will be a free smoothie bar, live music from a college park band, 45 campus and community organizations, educational activities, a raffle, free prizes, souvenirs, gardening, a community mural project, and two HUGE announcements about campus sustainability!

While we of course want to make this event as fun and exciting as possible, we also want to make it educational and meaningful! There will be a few big activities for students to participate in, and then at each organization's table there will be smaller activities related to their group. If you participate in an activity - you get a raffle ticket! The more raffle tickets you get, the more prizes you can win! And who doesn't love prizes?!

Earth Day Festival!  Tuesday, April 22nd, 6:30-9pm, Colony Ballroom in Stamp

WHO will be at this event?

Remember, all religions, cultures, ethnicities, races, and people share the same planet - so, it shouldn't just be the "environmental groups" celebrating this day. That's why we are reaching out to many different groups all over campus!

Who's speaking?

Carlo Colella is  the University of Maryland's Vice President of Finance and Administration. He will be announcing big news about the campus' Climate Action Plan!

John Townshend is the Dean of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. He will be making an announcement about a huge sustainability initiative by the College of BSOS!
